Dan Arnés is a Nuyorican filmmaker based in NYC. Drawing from his background in music, his work explores obsession in character-driven psychological stories, often involving musicians. His short film Please Enjoy Your Stay, an absurdist dark comedy featuring cast from The Bear and I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson, screened at the Maryland Film Festival, the Oscar-qualifying Athens International Film + Video Festival, and Nitehawk Shorts Festival, where it won the Audience Award. He has been featured in The Paris Review, Vulture, and NoBudge. He is currently developing his feature debut.
He is a producer and editor on Stavros Halkias’s upcoming tour documentary, and served as writer and editor on Halkias’s series Stavvy Gets Ripped. His other credits include assistant editor on Soul Patrol (Best Directing: US Documentary, Sundance 2026), associate editor on PBS’s Change Not Charity (directed by Jim LeBrecht of Crip Camp), and 30 for 30: Empire Skate (Tribeca 2025), as well as work for Meta x Met Gala 2025, Smithsonian, and Crooked Media.
As a composer, he made his feature scoring debut with The Scout, which premiered at Tribeca 2025 and will be released by Greenwich Entertainment. His scoring work also includes projects for MoMA and HBO’s Animals. Formerly frontman of experimental pop band Leapling, he’s performed with Mitski and Japanese Breakfast, and received praise from NPR and VICE.
